I laughed at the term 'FourSquare Snobs.' Very true. Some of my friends have indicated my 'mayorships' aren't of high quality. But I'm proud to call Schneiders my small-town grocery store.

Is that THE Stan! Hi Stan!

And he's right-- there is an odd connection between Wizards and the Southern Tier. The office is teeming with people who have a connection to the area in some way. I remember once someone lent me a pencil that said Binghamton University on it. And Stan! I think it was you who had a BU sticker on your office door? One of my co-workers used to work at Fat Cat Books.

And once I happened to be walking by reception when this nice family came in for a visit. I started talking to them for some reason and it turned out they were from Binghamton too. I think we need to give Binghamton another nickname in our of its D&D connections.

Thanks again, Joshua!

Just for the general interest, you can ALSO begin your journey at Fat Cat Books in Johnson City ... http://www.fatcatbooks.net

And over the years there has been a fairly STRONG connection between the Southern Tier and D&D and the hobby gaming industry. A surprising number of people who have worked at TSR and Wizards of the Coast ... not to mention West End Games (which I believe is STILL located in Honesdale, PA ... just an hour or so south of the border).

Nice article! I like her! As a D&D player I like that she is putting it out there that girls play too. That is my basic problem with the gaming world (both roleplaying and video) boys don't think that girls really play.

Well we do.....some of us play a lot!

This is great! I have never played D&D but was always sort of curious.. I recently watched "Gamers: Dorkness Rising" and really thought it was funny. I love RPG's and things of that nature. I play Runescape, I would definitely try D&D if I knew other like minded people to play it with after reading this article.

Where exactly from Binghamton are you guys from? I've been dancing for twelve years, but I'm quitting after my recital next week because I've been more into breakdancing. I've been trying to find places in Binghamton and I'd like to come check you guys out!

You can just email me if you'd like.

Very unpleasant experience. Long wait, rookie waiters and miso soup served in bowls that made it very difficult to eat. Sushi Bar needed a good cleaning. Great ambience could not make up for what a restaurant should be, a place of great food.
Not recommended at all.

It would seem to me that writing an algorithm to write a book requires a lot more creativity and imagination than it does it to spew out a generic, second rate porn-romance novel.

The KNOW is doing some seriously good work. I am glad to see at least one theatre company in Binghamton moving forward and not being lost in the past. The KNOW is the most innovative theatre in Binghamton and I am excited to see what they produce in the future. If I were other theatres in the area I would watch out, because the KNOW is sure to draw away your fan base. They already got one in me. Keep up the good work!

Well put Joshua...

It's that outpouring of charity, that spirit of community that continues to draw me back, it's why I drive back and forth between work in New York City and Binghamton as many as four days a week. There is something about this town that when it’s down, it's at its best.

I've often wondered if it's decades of consistently bad news that has softened people's hearts to help others, or if this town has survived as long as it has, through floods and economic knockdowns, merely because it's people carry such a strong sense of civic and community spirit. Is it the result or the lifeline?

Help comes from unexpected sources. The Monday after the tragedy of April 3rd I was not ready to move on and fearing that in the media this would quickly pass save a few reports with updates. I usually listen to Joshua B and Lori on the way to work, but on Monday I felt that the usual cheer emanating from the radio would not do. Then, I heard Joshua and Lori address the situation and offer answers that I had not thought of, but that I needed. I learned of ways to deal with the emotions that we feel. I learned how to help my community and I heard from Mayor Ryan. I sighed and thanked this unsuspected source of help. I’d like for Josh and Lori to know that they didn’t just help, but showed a deep connection to the community by constructively and promptly responding to its needs.

Hi Joshua,

Thank you for keeping the rest of us updated on vigils and events connected to the tragedy last Friday. It is appreciated. And as for your own person experience with it, I'm glad you wrote. It affected all of us here in Bingo-town and although we may not be able to articulate it ourselves, it's helpful to read/hear others' accounts. Thank you for being a part of the cohesiveness here in Binghamton.

the first time i ate here for lunch was great. even though the lunch special had a roll with shrimp, they substituted it with edamame so that i could have a vegetarian lunch special. the second time i went there, they wouldn't substitute the roll with edamame, and then i learned that the miso soup is made with fish broth. i'm hoping they'll change things up so that it is more veg friendly!
