Uh, what is this?

BingPop.com was created by Joshua B.

BingPop is pop culture. It’s Binghamton News, nightlife, and art. It’s Endwell, Endicott, and Johnson City. What’s going on downtown after 5 and where’s the hot new restaurant to grab lunch. It’s a catalogue of the quirkiest stuff in Broome County and instant updates from a ton of reliable (and occasionally not so reliable) sources.

Where’s that neat little brunch place in Whitney Point and what’s the newest chain to open its doors on the Vestal Parkway. We’ll talk about the staples: Boca Joe’s, Number 5, and the Cyber Café West. What’s must-see at the Art Mission Theater and who’s showing at the Brunelli Gallery. And the latest show to be announced at the Broome County Arena.

But you’ll also know what’s up and coming before it’s come up. Mostly, it’s all about the Southern Tier. With a nice bit of trash about Paris Hilton and Brad Pitt folded in for flavor. And although it’s true: we do [heart] Binghamton. It doesn’t mean we always gotta be nice...

Mark It: 3/22/09 - STAP remixes the “Charity Event” with style and camp.

One part local celebrity;  One part booze;  One part charity event;  Touch of drag queen.  Mix vigorously.  Serve with camp.

It’s the recipe for STAP’s Rock Star Celebrity Bartending Bash on March 22nd @ Tranquil.

OK, look: I like the “spaghetti fundraiser” this and the “taste of the” that.  But every once in a while, I like my charity events to use a little IMAGINATION.  And finally, one will.

STAP Bartending

The bash kicks off at 5 PM when “celebs” such as Candace Chapman (WBNG), Mayor Ryan, and John Brunelli compete for tips—all of which go to STAP.  It’ll be 3 tender’s per hour—but you’ll have to show up to find out who competes when.

Of course, there’s stuff to win too.  Show up wearing all red for your shot at door prizes (and to show your solidarity).  AND there’s a show.  Throughout the event, Tranquil’s cocktail servers (all in drag) will class it up with a classic tune or two.  Their tips will ALSO go to charity, so tip big.

Oh, and come empty-stomached.  The restaurant’s got a big buffet planned.  Dinner’s not required, but it’s impolite to drool on other people’s plates, so plan on buying in.

Wondering who else will be mixing your booze?  Here’s a list…

Mayor Matt Ryan
Michael Libous
Greg Catlin - WBNG
Sophia Ojeda - News Channel 34
John Brunelli
Candace Chapman - WBNG
Joshua B - Star 105.7 (OH WAIT! That’s me!)
Tony Fiala
Lori - Star 105.7
Matt Unhjem - Q Magazine

You can RSVP on Facebook (though it’s not required).
