REPORT: Rebecca Black of “Friday” fame to take over lead in Spiderman musical?
BREAKING: BingPop has just received this anonymously authored report regarding the future of "Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark", currently on Broadway…
"Rebecca Black in talks to replace Jennifer Damiano as Mary Jane Watson in revamped Spider-Man musical."
Sources close to the production say that a renegotiated insurance policy on the show calls for lower overall liability, leading to potential changes in casting. Jeff Mander, a representative for Actor’s Equity, said Wednesday, "Ms Black is not a member of Equity, and the union takes no responsibility for anything that might happen to her in this production."
Ms Damiano’s management denied knowledge of any casting changes late Tuesday, but did confirm that the actress has been approached to appear in a national tour of Peter Pan to begin in June. Ms Black could not reached for comment, but her cousin, Topher Black, told the AP that Rebecca is "like, way scared of heights. We went to Knot’s Berry Farm last year and she totally freaked out on the Boomerang."
The Management at ARK Music, which released Ms Black’s breakout hit "Friday," is currently working with the singer on a follow-up, "Saturday" (working title), in an undisclosed location. An EP is said to be in the works, "probably seven songs. Maybe eight, but we’re not sure if we have the material for eight," said one producer involved with the project. The EP is likely to drop later this afternoon, pending completion of the post-production, video shoots, YouTube upload speed, and whether Rebecca can get out of her Jazz/Tap class.
In related news, Julie Taymor is said to be developing a new theatrical spectacular, "Freia: Goddess of Friday, Goddess of Fun," as a vehicle for Ms Black, in an effort to poach the talent and sabotage her erstwhile colleagues, Bono and the Edge, as they work to salvage the Spider-Man production. A belligerent Bono, reached by telephone for comment, said "That motherf*cker Taymor may have won ‘Friday’ today, but tomorrow is Saturday, and afterwards comes Sunday, Bloody Sunday…." [The remainder of Mr. Bono’s comments were unintelligible].
