Southern Tier’s 20 kick-ass-iest people in their 20s. Here’s to you.

I’m going to have to side with Charlie Sheen just this once. (OK, honestly, I can see myself siding with him a lot–when he’s not a raving borderline anti-semite.) It is NOT an honor just to be nominated.  Seriously, when was the last time you saw the hashtag #NOMINEE trend on Twitter? Never. Trolls don’t trend.

#WINNERS. That’s who trends.

(I tried to find a royalty-free picture of a kick-@ss trophy, but I couldn’t find one. So instead you get this guy.)

A friend of mine (who shall remain nameless), told me earlier today that he was nominated for the Southern Tier Opportunity Coalition’s 20 in their Twenties but he was "too busy to complete the application process". #TROLL. The 20 names below were chosen based on their truly awesome commitment to the Southern Tier including charity work, professional conduct, and leadership.

Well, for all you who bothered to apply, and were chosen… Here’s to you. Charlie Sheen, and the Southern Tier, are proud. You kicked ass and took names. And you deserve to be recognized. (For those of you who bothered to apply and didn’t quite make it, get up off the dirt. I’d apply next year. And enclose a small bribe.)

So anyway, #WINNERS, here are your names, in big bold blinking letters.

(Editor’s note: [That’s me; I’m the editor] I’m actually using the HTML <BLINK> code to make the names blink; but I’m pretty sure Opera is the only web browser that still supports it. So for full effect, close Internet Explorer, download Opera [even if you’ve never heard of it], and look at your blinking name in digital lights. You deserve it.)

All of you are awesome. Except maybe Scott Fineout, because he ran a blog that was competing with BingPop for a while. He’s still on my list. The rest of you are awesome. Blink on.

(PS Sorry I missed the ceremony. I was busy winning.)

BingPop is pop culture. It’s Binghamton News, nightlife, and art. It’s Endwell, Endicott, and Johnson City. What’s going on downtown after 5 and where’s the hot new restaurant to grab lunch. It’s a catalogue of the quirkiest stuff in Broome County and instant updates from a ton of reliable (and occasionally not so reliable) sources.

Where’s that neat little brunch place in Whitney Point and what’s the newest chain to open its doors on the Vestal Parkway. We’ll talk about the staples: Boca Joe’s, Number 5, and the Cyber Café West. What’s must-see at the Art Mission Theater and who’s showing at the Brunelli Gallery. And the latest show to be announced at the Broome County Arena.

But you’ll also know what’s up and coming before it’s come up. Mostly, it’s all about the Southern Tier. With a nice bit of trash about Paris Hilton and Brad Pitt folded in for flavor. And although it’s true: we do [heart] Binghamton. It doesn’t mean we always gotta be nice...
